SECTION 45-16-9

   § 45-16-9  Attendance of special constablesat schools or meetings. – A special constable shall, upon the request of any citizen, and upon beingtendered the sum of thirty cents ($.30) for each hour of service required,attend any school or meeting lawfully assembled, for the purpose of preventingany interruption or disturbance at the school or meeting, and may arrestwithout warrant and detain not exceeding six (6) hours, any person found by theconstable in the act of willfully interrupting or disturbing a school ormeeting, and may, in like manner with other constables, command all necessaryaid in the execution of the duties of the constable's office.
