SECTION 45-21-14

   § 45-21-14  Computation of years ofservice. – (a) The retirement board fixes and determines, by appropriate rules andregulations, how much service in any year is equivalent to a year of service,but in computing the service or in computing the compensation it shall creditno period of more than a month's duration during which a member was absentwithout pay, nor shall more than one year of service be credited on account ofall service in one calendar year.

   (b) Notwithstanding any other section of law, no member ofthe retirement system is permitted to purchase service credit for any portionof a year for which he or she is already receiving service credit in thisretirement system.
