§ 45-21-3 Effective date of operations.– The retirement system created in this chapter begins operations when at leastfive (5) municipalities, having a combined number of eligible employees forparticipation in the system of not less than one hundred fifty (150), haveaccepted the provisions of this chapter, and the effective date of operationsshall be the first day of July following the date when these conditions havebeen fulfilled.
