SECTION 45-22.1-2

   § 45-22.1-2  Creation, appointment, andoperation of joint municipal planning commission. – The governing bodies of two (2) or more municipalities may, by ordinance orresolution, authorize the establishment and participation or membership in, andsupport of, a joint municipal planning commission. The number andqualifications of the members of the planning commission and their terms andmethod of appointment or removal shall be determined and agreed upon by thegoverning bodies. Members of a joint municipal planning commission shall servewithout salary but may be paid expenses incurred in the performance of theirduties. The joint municipal planning commission shall elect a chairperson whoseterm does not exceed one year and who is eligible for reelection. Thecommission may create and fill any other offices that it may determine. Everyjoint municipal planning commission shall adopt rules for the transaction ofbusiness and keep a record of its resolutions, transactions, findings, anddeterminations, which record is a public record. Each participating or membermunicipality may, from time to time, upon the request of the joint municipalplanning commission, assign or detail to the commission any employees of themunicipality to make special surveys or studies.
