SECTION 46-13.2-3

   § 46-13.2-3  Regulations. – (a) For the purpose of safeguarding the public health, the director, and theboard shall promote and encourage cooperation among well drillers andgovernmental agencies in the development and protection of records ofunderground water formations and resources. The director shall prepare anddisseminate such information as may be necessary for the benefit of theindustry and the public.

   (b) The director shall promulgate regulations establishingminimum standards for the design, construction, installation, and maintenanceof wells in consultation with the board, the department of health, and thedivision of statewide planning, with due regard for the preservation of publichealth, the preservation, allocation, and management of the groundwater of thestate, the protection of the consuming public, and the maintenance ofgeological and other scientific data.

   (c) Any regulations or amendments thereto promulgated by thedirector under this chapter shall be submitted to the board for approval.
