SECTION 5-34-40.1

   § 5-34-40.1  Qualifications of apsychiatric and mental health clinical nurse specialist applicant. – (a) An applicant for licensure as a psychiatric and mental health clinicalnurse specialist shall submit to the board written evidence on forms furnishedby the department of health, verified by oath, that the applicant:

   (1) Is a registered nurse who has completed an accreditededucational program resulting in a master's degree in psychiatric and mentalhealth nursing; and/or

   (2) Passed a national qualifying examination recognized bythe board.

   (b) All persons who are engaged in the practice of apsychiatric and mental health clinical nurse specialist on July 1, 2003, whomeet the definition in § 5-34-3(i) may be considered to have met thequalifications for licensure providing they have three (3) years experienceacceptable to the board between January 1, 1997, and January 1, 2003. AfterJanuary 1, 2004, all applicants for initial licensure must complete anaccredited educational program resulting in a master's degree in nursing andmust pass a national qualifying examination recognized by the board.
