§ 5-37-32 Pap smears – Qualityassurance standards. – Any licensed physician taking a pap smear or supervising the taking of a papsmear shall submit the smear for processing only to a laboratory which islicensed by the Rhode Island department of health specifically to performcervical cytology, or is accredited by the American Society of Cytology, or isaccredited by the College of American Pathologists, or is a hospital accreditedby the joint commission for the accreditation of health care organizations, oris a hospital accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.
