<br><br> <br>Page 1 of 1 <br>58.200 Restroom requirements for certain public buildings used for specified <br>purposes. <br>(1) As used in this section: <br>(a) &quot;Public building&quot; means a building, or a portion thereof, with a capacity of ten <br>thousand (10,000) or more people, owned or leased by a state or local <br>governmental agency, as defined in KRS 58.010, in which the general public <br>congregates to observe or participate in arts, sports, entertainment, and other <br>types of assembly uses as defined by the Kentucky building code; <br>(b) &quot;Restroom facility&quot; means a toilet, chemical toilet, or water closet; and <br>(c) &quot;Newly-constructed public building&quot; means: <br>1. <br>A new public building; <br>2. <br>A new addition to or expansion of an existing public building; or <br>3. <br>The altered or renovated portion of an existing public building if the <br>alteration or renovation requires more than fifty percent (50%) of the <br>floor area of the entire building to be rebuilt. Cosmetic work, including <br>painting, wall covering, wall paneling, floor covering, or suspended <br>ceiling work, shall not be considered an alteration or renovation. <br>(2) Any newly-constructed public building shall be equipped with twice the number of <br>restroom facilities for use by women as it provides restroom facilities for use by <br>men. This section shall apply to newly-constructed public buildings for which a <br>contract for design or construction is awarded after July 15, 1996. <br>Effective: July 15, 1996 <br>History: Created 1996 Ky.
